PLASTIC SURGERY INTEGRATED RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Our Mission

The mission of the Plastic Surgery Integrated Program at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus, is to train our residents to provide the highest quality plastic surgery patient care and clinical education, ultimately leading residency graduates to Board Certification in Plastic Surgery and to pursue creative research within the ever-changing practice environment. Plastic Surgery faculty and residents conduct this mission in a cohesive spirit of patient service, community outreach, and scholarly inquiry.

The plastic surgery residency program at Larkin Community Hospital is based out of our Palm Springs Campus located in Hialeah, Florida. The program is currently accepting 2 new applicants per year. The curriculum entails participation at more than 10 different clinical sites including specialty centers throughout not only Miami-Dade County, but also the state of Florida, ensuring that residents receive well-rounded and comprehensive training in all facets of plastic surgery.

Education

We place a robust emphasis on resident education. Residents are afforded protected time to regularly participate in lectures, journal clubs, and cadaver laboratory sessions under the tutelage of our many expert faculty members.
Effort is made to ensure that residents receive early exposure to the operating room with increasing involvement through progression of training. Instruction by board-certified plastic surgeons at all clinical rotation sites provides trainees with a medium to learn cutting edge surgical technique as well as standard of care patient management first-hand from world-renowned specialists.

Research

Research opportunities are abundant at our program and residents are strongly encouraged to get involved. The dedicated research department at Larkin Community Hospital serves as a liaison to connect residents with faculty members in an effort to help coordinate involvement in scholarly activities and contribution to medical literature. In the brief period since achieving accreditation, our program has already witnessed residents present abstracts and posters at major national plastic surgery conferences.

Location

As a major coastal municipality with a vastly cosmopolitan populace, Miami has become a hub for finance, commerce, international trade, culture, media, entertainment, the arts, and much more. The city is home to newcomers from all over the globe and trainees will find themselves serving a patient population of unparalleled diversity.
Life in Miami also offers a host of leisurely activities to residents for time outside of work. From cruising and water sports to vibrant nightlife and world-class gastronomy, Miami caters to the interests of individuals and families alike.
