Research Liaisons

Research Liaison Role

The Research Liaison role at Larkin Clinical Programs is designed by the Department of Research and Academic Affairs (DRAA) to support scholarly approaches among program departments through residents and faculty involved with research activities. This program aims to nurture the scholarship activities of junior residents and fellows who are actively contributing to research in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, review of the evidence, clinical research, and community health interventions at Larkin.  Early Research liaisons may face challenges with research productivity as they navigate both clinical and research training and responsibilities. This challenge may be ameliorated with the support of Team 11 Research Volunteers working with DRAA, who can cover up research activities while the physician-scholar is engaged in clinical activities. This program intends to promote research skills and competencies by providing mentorship to coach the research efforts at each clinical department to reflect the needs of the community it serves and clinical practices to be improved.

By offering a protected time for research, this role will support Research Liaisons during a critical period of their career, smooth the transition to research independence.
