Primary Training Site: Larkin Community Hospital (Inpatient and Outpatient Services).

Larkin Community Hospital

Larkin Community Hospital (LCH) South Miami Campus is located at 7031 SW 62 Avenue, South Miami, Florida. This is a well-known General-Surgical-Psychiatric and Teaching Hospital, which has been designated as Area of Critical Need in Florida by the HRSA and the Florida Department of Health. We have been serving the health care needs of South Miami and the surrounding communities for more than 40 years. Our institution provides comprehensive services in order to serve the community through qualified inter-disciplinary teams.

Larkin actually includes a campus in Hialeah offering 247 beds, plus a behavioral health hospital in Hollywood offering 50 beds plus ALFs and nursing homes. Larkin also offers the Neuroscience Center, the Center for Advanced PM&R, the Cancer Center, and seven neuroimaging centers through the Dade County.

The experience at Larkin Hospital Center for Advanced PM&R provides comprehensive and well-structured cognitive and procedural clinical education in general PM&R with an emphasis in adult lower extremity reconstruction. The residents are exposed to general PM&R while covering an emergency room and inpatient consult service for both upper and lower extremities. Elective procedures are mostly hip and knee joint replacements primaries and complex revision surgeries.Residents are involved in the clinic and operating room and are closely supervised by a PM&R Physiatrist. While at Larkin, the program provides 5 hours of didactics every week.

Including case reviews, Grand Rounds, journal club and in-training review. Online access to PM&R journals and the research department resources are available for all the residents to work on specific research projects which are required for all residents.

West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital

Has a wide variety of acute inpatient rehabilitation with Fellowship trained physicians in TBI and SCI, Cases include TBI, SCI,CVA, Orthopedics, Neurological disorders and debility work with interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, ST, neuro psychology and nursing.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Miami

At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Miami, residents are committed to helping patients regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Site Director is Dr. Franz Richter.

Enzo Abad, DO - PMR and Pain Management Office

Dr. Abad graduated from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic in 2004. He works in Hialeah, FL and 3 other locations and specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine.

Susana Wesley

Susanna Wesley Health Center is a Non-Profit licensed 120-bed skilled nursing facility located inside the beautiful 9.5 acre Epworth Village Retirement Community in Hialeah, Florida. The site director/attending is Dr. Richter.

Miami Institute for Joint Reconstruction

Miami Institute for Joint Reconstruction is a medical group practice located in Doral, FL that specializes in Pain Management, Pain Medicine, and PM&R. Site Director Dr. Arturo Corces.

Eugenio Moises Guevara, MD, PA

Residents will be supervised by Dr. Guevara, who is a board-certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialist with fellowship training in Electro diagnostic Medicine.

SouthPalm Ortho-Spine Institute

A full-service orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, physical medicine, rehabilitation and management practice. Residents will rotate with Dr. Steven Burack, DO. Dr. Steven Burack is a Board Certified Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His main field of focus is pain management techniques and how they relate to spine and spinal conditions.

Orthotic & Prosthetic Centers

Residents will rotate in a Prosthetic and Orthotics clinic with 2 certified specialists who provide guidance and support and teaching adequate patient volume. Population ranging from infants to elderly.

Design Neuroscience Center - Specialty

PM&R Neurologists diagnose and treat disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and the involuntary nervous system that controls the heart, lungs and other organs. Educational impact on how to treat headaches, stroke, dementia, seizures, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders and neuromuscular diseases. As well as exposure to pediatric patients.

Nemours Children’s Hospital

Residents complete a 2-month Pediatric PM&R rotation during their Y3/PGY-4 year with Dr. Michelle Miller as their supervising physician. In this experience, residents gain competence in the diagnosis, evaluation, and rehabilitation management of children and adolescents with impairments of the neurologic, musculoskeletal, and other body systems impacting body structure and function, activity limitation, and barriers to participate with emphasis on pediatric-related conditions.
