FAMILY MEDICINE
Program Description
The Family Medicine residency program at Larkin Community Hospital is a three-year program aimed to build skilled, well-rounded, and compassionate primary care physicians who will have lasting impacts in both their communities and in the field at large. Residents will learn their specialty in a variety of settings from some of the best doctors in the South Florida area in both comprehensive and subspecialty areas. The curriculum is structured to prepare residents to achieve board certification by meeting all ACGME requirements for training, and, if desired, prepare them to enter competitive fellowships in the subspecialty of their choice.

Family Medicine Rural Track
The Family Medicine Rural Track at Larkin Community Hospital is Florida’s first ACGME-accredited residency with a Rural Track designation. This three-year pathway prepares residents to practice full-spectrum family medicine in rural and underserved communities. Residents spend their first year at Larkin in Miami, followed by two years of immersive training at Family Health Network in Cortland, NY, in collaboration with LECOM’s Elmira Campus. The track combines the academic strength of a teaching hospital with hands-on rural practice, offering broad experience in inpatient and outpatient medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency care, behavioral health, and pain management.
