All interested applicants must apply through ERAS. Medical student clerkships are available and encouraged. This residency training program accepts eight residents annually.

Medical Student Clerkships:

Medical student clerkships are four weeks in duration occurring throughout the year. Please contact Mr. Marco Salguero in the Larkin GME Department to set up clerkship rotations and apply early. Please feel free to contact the PM&R Chief Residents, Karen Rosen, DO or Ian Miller, DO with any additional questions you may have.

Clerkship Expectations:

  1. Perform daily rounds and write notes on patients.
  2. Present one interesting case/topic.
  3. Attend weekly didactics and monthly journal club.

Clerkship Objectives:

  1. Understand the role of the physiatrist in the treatment of the disabled patient.
  2. Learn a team orientated interdisciplinary approach to managing a patient.
  3. Recognize the characteristics of an appropriate inpatient rehabilitation candidate.
  4. Acquire further knowledge in the field of PM&R including, but not limited to: osteopathic manipulation, sports medicine, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and pain management.

West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital 

*Clerkship Tips:  Some of the rotation locations have many Spanish-speaking patients, which are great opportunities to utilize medical Spanish (medical-spanish-hp-nsu-com).
