Dear Medical Students and Medical Graduate Sub-Interns,

Welcome to Larkin Community Hospital! We’re so glad you are here and are interested in rotating with us! Our Family Medicine residency program is a three year ACGME accredited residency program. Students and Sub-Interns have a chance to work closely with their peers, our residents, our faculty, as well as our program director. All medical students and medical graduate sub-Interns will receive an enriching and educational hands-on experience both in an inpatient and outpatient setting If you would like to rotate with us as a third or fourth year medical student, or as a medical school graduate, please refer to the information below on how to apply! Medical Students

The Medical Student Clerkship Program at Larkin Community Hospital provides students with educational and clinical training in numerous areas of medicine. The program was developed to provide excellent educational orientation in clinical environments as a means to develop general knowledge in areas of patient diagnosis and management. Students will receive basic medical knowledge in diverse clinical areas. Students will have direct contact with attending faculty and be able to work with Residents in the care of patients.

Orientation

Orientation will be given to all Medical Students on the first day of their rotation to acquaint him/her with hospital routines. 

  • The student will not be allowed to assume floor responsibilities without orientation.
  • Download and review the Application Package  prior to attending orientation on your first day of the rotation. You will be required to sign a document stating that you have reviewed and understand the policies.
  • A lecture schedule is provided monthly and all Medical Students are required to attend the lectures that pertain to their rotation, in addition to:
    • Morning Report: 7am Monday-Friday
    • Grand Rounds: Friday once a month at 12 noon (lunch is provided)
    • Program Specific Journal Clubs and Lectures

Medical Graduates

Larkin’s postgraduate sub-internship program works directly with Larkin Community Hospital. This opportunity is for foreign medical graduates (IMG’s) to enroll in postgraduate sub-internships. Our Family Medicine Sub-Internship program.

Requirements
  1. Must legally reside in/around Miami, Florida (U.S.) at least one week prior to desired start date.
  2. Visa status should allow for working or tourist/visiting (6 months max) the US.
  3. Fluent in English.
  4. Must be available 24/7. (Mandatory attendance unless previously arranged with supervisors. No time off or holidays; expected to be present 12 hours/day, calls, early mornings and weekend patient rounds).
  5. Annual physical exam, in addition to regular LPSP required documents for enrollment.
  6. Flu vaccine (during fall and winter seasons)7. New clinical block enrollments only.
